I spent my school days in Cleveland, Ohio and joined the navy during the Vietnam War. During those years, I was either in military schools or serving as a reactor operator on a nuclear submarine. Submarine duty isn’t as rigorous as it once was, but there are many patrol hours aside from the assigned duties that must be endured. I used to take a gym bag filled with books and during those ninety plus days away from home, I lived vicariously with a paperback in hand and permitted the author to transport me to distant lands and often in eras far removed from the current day. The reading habit gave me a solid appreciation for a tale well told and colorful characters that were well cast for the role the author designed for them. That appreciation pushed me closer to the magic line where I decided to become to write stories of my own.
I became a family man in the late 60’s and with it came responsibilities and priorities that pushed my desire aside while I worked to pay the bills and provide financial security. The creative writing urge first surfaced when I began writing stories for my children. At my daughter’s request and with the teacher’s permission, I told stories to her second-grade classmates. This added to my frustration to write and I eventually changed jobs, switching from power plant operator to a business consultant for the utility industry. I spent years doing technical writing only to find out that pronouns, adjectives, and adverbs were strictly forbidden, and prepositional phrases were discouraged. While this kept food on the table and seed money for a college education, it inhibited my creative spark.

Creative writing is my passion. There's always a work in progress. The next one is titled, 'What Made My Father Cry'. It's a family saga.

Time passes, but the desire remained and the advent of the personal computer fanned the internal flame to write. My first attempt at writing a whole book was a syrupy romance that I titled: Love’s Sweet Embrace”. If the title doesn’t make you gag, the writing certainly would. I hate a lousy book. When I looked critically at my first effort I realized that there was a lot more to creative writing than banging on a keyboard. I began studying, and attending writer’s conferences while I continued writing and applying what I learned.
For ten years, I labored and produced one book after another. The creative engine roars on and I invite you, the reader, to tag along with me. I am your tour guide, your safari leader, and I realize you place your trust in me to spin a tale that’s worth the expense and time to read. If you’re still not convinced that writing is my passion, you should know that I’ve sold my books for seven years. I’m a big guy and I don’t move very fast. So far, I’m very pleased to tell you—no one has hit me with a tomato for what I’ve written.
